Not that you had to be Nostradamus to figure this shit out. But I was seeing NSX, Mk4 Supra, Integra Typr R and Honda Si values just starting to climb. They were at that magic point when theyve Ibecome just used cars and folks just werent that intersted sin them any more but hadnt abecome old enough or niche enough that guys were chasing them. Seeing Mk4 supras and first gen NSX in the mid 20s in the early 2000s, I knew that couldnt last. Buy em fast I said. Get the best example you can afford and enjoy it. The whole drive your 401k deal. I even looked at a few myself but I just wasn’t comfortable in them. I also just couldn’t store one with all my other projects. It does however feel good being right. And it makes total sense. These Japanese rockets are the muscle cars of my generation. They are the cars guys my age grew up seeing the rich kids drive to school or playing on games like Gran Tourismo. Of course they’d rocket in value as my generation gets to the, making a bit of cheddar age. Sadly , naturally as my generation is coming in the previous generations are phasing ou. Predictivley some of their holy grails are starting to become reasonable. Like first and second gen thunderbirds and pre 55 checvycoupes and wagionshave become more reasonable as well. While the 60s-70s muscle cars are still spendy the non Hemi or big block stuff is certainly coming down in price. It will be intersting to see what happens as time marches on. Sure there are still the supercars but will the 2000s up mustang Camaro or Charger challanger become collectible or will kids growing up now even care ?
It’ll sure be interesting to see what the future holds.
