To all my fellow Americans, I wish you a happy Independence Day. I know it’s hard for some of us to be stoked on the state of our homeland these days or to feel good about the direction we are currently going. But I don’t think George Washington would be all that surprised. America has always been on the precipice of epic achievements and colossal blunder. There’s a reason we are referred to as “The great Experiment” if you read his correspondence or the history of the day you’ll find it was equally turbulent even long after the British had been sent packing. We are an opinionated, rowdy, obstinate bunch and while I personally have little faith in either side of our government, I have great faith in my countrymen. No country gives as much as we do to charity or in support of other countries to Allie’s and non aligned nations alike. In recent history no other country out innovates us and I can think of no other country who’s cultures are more imitated or admired. We surely have our faults and some glaring, frustrating ones at that. But when we come together there little we can’t accomplish. As always, to all of you Foreign and Domestic, I hope you are well, I hope your bills are paid your food and drink plentiful and you are surrounded by family and friends. I thank you for allowing me to take up space in your feeds and lives and I hope to continue earning that place in the foreseeable future.
Happy Independence Day, happy 4th of July.
