Welp, she showed up in the mail today! Redcat Racing 64 impala and she’s even in the appropriate color. The unboxing feel and materials give a real Apple “Surprise and Delight” vibe. The over all construction and fit and finish is damn impressive. I uncharacteristically started with the directions and was a little nervous. I didn’t need to be, after charging the main battery and popping in 4AA in the controller… that’s a lot of switches! I did have some doubts but, I needn’t have. After playing with the switches for a few seconds I got the hang of things real quick. There’s the normal driving controls as well as the suspension controls and in short order I was pulling three wheel and hopping without making any adjustments or adding any of the included additional weights.
The great.
Awesome details fit and finish. This is how she looked straight out of the box I haven’t put on any of the many included decals on yet. I was admittedly to stoked not to immediately play with it. Easy to learn and control. It’s a genuine great time!
The Meh,
Don’t get it twisted I’m loving this thing and yeah I think it’s worth the price of admission. But I don’t know why the on/off switch isn’t accessible with the body on? It’s kind of a pain in the ass to be honest. The body/paint is so nice you don’t want to scratch it but you can’t do much without flipping it over and pulling pins and removing the body to turn on and off. Because of the battery placement and the strap that holds the battery in interferes with the body fitting to the chassis. I had some issues getting the body on/off but that’s more of a me issue. My last quibble is I wish there was a metal or plastic replaceable piece that dropped below the rear bumper to protect the “chrome”
If you can, I’d say jump on this it’s a ton of fun, my 8 year old sat out on the tail gate and we took turns hopping and three wheeling up and down the street, I’m really looking forward to seeing what my daughter thinks of it.
